Four years ago today, I started The Bookwyrm's Hoard with a post titled "Introduction, or, Why On Earth Am I Doing This?" I was a pretty erratic blogger for the first several years, averaging only a few posts per month, and sometimes none. But I had fun, even if hardly anyone was reading the blog back then.
About a year and a half ago, I got more serious about the blog. I've been posting more, developing more of a schedule, joining a few memes, participating in one or two blog tours, and interacting with other bloggers. I'm still having fun -- actually, I think I'm having more fun! I've met some great people, made some lovely friends, had some interesting conversations, and stretched my reading horizons a bit.
So today, I want to say thank you to everyone who makes this such a rewarding experience. To celebrate, I'm throwing a book-themed virtual costume party, complete with door prizes! Come dressed as your favorite character. I'll supply the virtual food and drinks: coffee, tea, iced tea, raspberry lemonade, and chilled wine; sandwiches, deviled eggs, crab dip and homemade bread, fresh fruit salad, scones with whipped cream and jam, fairy cakes, homemade cookies (biscuits, for my friends on the other side of the pond) and a great big chocolate cake.
I'll be giving away four prizes, one for each year I've been blogging: a $15 Amazon or Book Depository gift certificate, Sherryl Woods' Sand Castle Bay (Kindle ebook released this spring, which I enjoyed), an ARC of Gwen Cooper's Love Saves the Day, and a handmade bookmark.
To enter, use the Rafflecopter widget below. I'll draw four names at random from your responses. (If you live outside the US and Canada, you're only eligible for the gift certificate and the ebook -- sorry!) The contest ends at 11:59 p.m. EST on June 12.
ETA: Oh, and what about my costume? I'm dressed as Beauty from Robin McKinley's Beauty, because I've always wanted that library with all the books in it -- even the ones that haven't been written yet.

Happy blogoversary! It sounds like you've had quite the journey with your blog and with book blogging. I've had a lot of fun discussing books with you both through TTT and outside--may you have many more blogoversaries to come! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lianne! I, too, have enjoyed our conversations!
Delete(Btw, forgot to mention, I'd be dressed up as a member of the rohirrim from LOTR for the costume party--like a female version of Eomer, lol--because I always wanted to dress up all bad-ass in armour ;))
ReplyDeleteI bet you'll look awesome!
DeleteHow exciting! 4 years is amazing, congrats!! I'd love to come as Anna Karenina because omg THE CLOTHES would be amazing :D
ReplyDeleteYes, they would! Thank you for stopping by!
DeleteI am dressed as the Doctor complete with trench coat and converse! Congrats on your blogoversary!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! Which Doctor? (I'm not up on which one wears what, except that one of them had a fez and several of them had a super-long striped scarf.)
Delete*nibbles on deviled eggs and sips raspberry lemonade*
ReplyDeleteI'm dressed as Bilbo Baggins. :)
Happy anniversary! You've changed a lot in those four years and I'm happy we got to 'meet'.
*throws soap confetti*
Bilbo would love deviled eggs and raspberry lemonade, wouldn't he? (Before switching to ale, anyway!) I'd love to see your Bilbo costume! ;-)
DeleteI'm glad we've "met", too! Thank you for coming to my party. :) (But what is soap confetti?)
Congratulations...four years is great! Crab dip and homemade bread sounds yummy. I can't decide what costume to wear. I guess I probably come dressed as Mercy Thompson all tattooed and ready to shift to a coyote!
ReplyDeleteThank you, and I'm glad you came! I bet you look awesome in your tats! (Hopefully they wash off when you want to go back to your regular life?)
DeleteCongratulation on your anniversary. I discovered you from The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. I look forward to your posts.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found me and that you're enjoying the blog. I look forward to getting to know you better! Thanks for coming by.
DeleteCongratulations on your four years! I'm coming to the party as Jo March, and my fingers are ink stained from all that scribbling.
ReplyDeleteI expect they are -- and the back of your dress is scorched from standing in front of the fire, too. ;-) I love Jo, too. Thank you so much for coming by!
DeleteCongratulations on 4 years! I can't wait to try your scones and fairy cakes! I am dressed as Belle from Beauty and the Beast!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogoversary!
Belle is another favorite of mine -- though actually, I prefer Beauty from Robin McKinley's first retelling of the story. Come to think of it, I forgot to mention that's who I'm dressed as! I'd better go add that into the post!
DeleteSo glad you stopped by, and enjoy the scones! My daughter makes them, and they're delicious.
Happy Blogoversary! :)
ReplyDeleteI would come dressed as Esmeralda, a Gypsy :)
From The Hunchback of Notre Dame, I presume? Welcome, and enjoy the party!
DeleteHappy Blogoversary!
ReplyDeleteI'm coming as Elizabeth Bennet and hopefully on Darcy's arm! Thanks for the amazing giveaway.
Thank you, Ashfa! How lovely -- I'm glad you could come!
DeleteAw happy 4 years!! It's a lot of fun isn't it?
ReplyDeleteAlright I'm totally drooling over the cake. Ahh I'd do naughty things for some cake right now. LOL 4am and nothing is open here and not a sweet in sight at the house. So not good! Hmmm I think I'd come as a vampire. They have the best clothes :)
Vampirus stokeriae, or vampirus meyerensis? ;-) Enjoy the cake. It's my sister's recipe, completely from scratch.
DeleteI am dressed as Scarlett O'Hara just because I've always wanted to wear a dress like that
ReplyDeleteGorgeous costumes, aren't they? Welcome to the party!
