Sunday Post - 11/03/13

The Sunday Post is a meme sponsored by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  It's a chance to share news.  A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

The last two weeks have been incredibly busy -- in real life, which means I've been less busy on the blog.  My biggest regret is that I've gotten really behind on responding to comments and visiting blogs, so if you've left a comment in the last week and a half or so, please accept my apologies for not responding sooner! I've been trying to catch up, but until I get this current project out the door this coming week, I don't have time for much else.  I've been working about 12 hours a day, even on the weekends -- I've had to steal reading time from sleep!

I did take a little time off last Saturday to celebrate my birthday.  Mr. Bookwyrm spoiled me with a wonderful steak dinner, grilled to perfection, and homemade macaroni and cheese.  And chocolate cake, of course!

Challenges:

Two weeks ago, I finished the Cruisin' thru the Cozies challenge hosted by Socrates' Book Reviews. Yay!  I'll be posting my "challenge completed" post on Monday!

I'm participating in the year-long NetGalley Challenge sponsored by Red House Books.  Unfortunately, I've gotten behind on reading ARCs in the last few weeks. Here's hoping I can catch up this month!

Clean out your E-reader Challenge Sign-up

I've signed up for the Clean out your E-reader Challenge hosted by Fantasy is More Fun and Because Reading is more fun.  The focus of the challenge is ebook freebies and bargain books, whether downloaded from a retailer like Amazon or received for review through NetGalley or Edelweiss.  I'm hoping this will help me get through some of those Netgalley review copies!

  1. You sound very busy, Lark! I'm glad you had a little time off for your birthday--and glad Mr. Bookwyrm spoiled you! I love all the Dick Francis books. My mom and I read them all and always had fun talking about them to each other. I should go back and read some of those again. You got some good looking books this week. I hope you have time for some reading.

    1. Thank you, Jan! My mom introduced me to to the Dick Francis books, too, but for some reason we never talked about the books we read. Have a great week!

  2. It's totally cool to take it easy when real life takes up too much time. I'm kind of going through that this weekend. Looks like you've got some wonderful books to keep you busy too. Oh and Happy Birthday!

  4. Happy birthday! It seems as though ours are a day apart (I'm on Oct. 25). My kids did a nice dinner and some flowers, which was a nice surprise.

I've finished my Cozies Challenge, too...although my goal was rather small. I haven't yet done the wrap-up post.

Enjoy your week! Here's MY WEEKLY SUNDAY/MONDAY UPDATES

    1. Happy birthday to you, too! Two of my cousins share late October with me, as well. We used to have parties together sometimes, when we were kids. And congratulations on finishing your Cozies challenge!

  7. Happy birthday! Your dinner sounds delightful.

The cozies challenge was fun. I'm hoping to read a few more before the end of the year but I made goal so I'm happy.

My mom introduced me to Dick Francis and then my dad started reading them. Some of my editions are 20 or 30 years old, he's a keeper. I keep hoping to find a an author who combines horses and mysteries as well as he did but no luck yet.

    1. I wore some of my paperbacks out, so I started picking up hardcovers of my favorites at used book stores/sales. No one writes like Dick Francis... though I haven't read any of his son Felix's solo efforts yet.

And yay, we both made goal on the cozies challenge! Well done, us! I'm taking the challenge again next year.

I love to hear what you have to say -- really! Unfortunately, I've been getting a lot of spam in addition to your wonderful comments, so I've had to turn on comment moderation. That means your comment may not post right away. I promise I'll post it -- and answer it -- as soon as I can!
