Sunday Post - 12/08/13

The Sunday Post is a meme sponsored by the wonderful Kimba, the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  It's a chance to share news.  A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

"Oh, the weather outside is frightful..."  Well, actually, we're getting off pretty lightly here, with sleet and rain and the occasional desultory snow flurry.  Luckily, it's not really sticking to or icing the roads, so we had no trouble getting to church or stopping at the store on the way home -- though we completely forgot the outdoor Christmas lights that were the main reason for the stop!  I really feel for all the people dealing with heavy snow and/or bitter cold this weekend.

Workwise, it was a very busy but successful week.  I finished my project and turned it in Friday, and received a wonderful compliment from the lead author, which really made my day.  Now I get to focus on making and buying Christmas presents and getting ready for our big cross-country trip next week.  (I'm so glad we didn't have to leave this weekend!  Hopefully the weather across the midwest will be better by next weekend.)

I hope you're all staying safe and warm.  It's a good day to curl up with a mug of hot chocolate and a great book!

Challenges:

I'm participating in the year-long NetGalley Challenge sponsored by Red House Books.  I still need to get a bunch of reviews linked up to this.

I also did the Goodreads Challenge this year, and I made my goal several weeks ago.  I'll have to set it higher next year!

  1. We've been lucky too weather- wise. We're in the upper Midwest and while its cold, we really don't have any storm activity. Back roads were icy but we're not getting any snow at the moment. Have a safe trip when you go!

Mistress of the Wind looks very intriguing. And I'll definetly be getting Wrede on Writing.

    1. I'm glad you didn't get pounded by the storm further south! Thanks for the safe travel wishes; I really appreciate them!

I sometimes read Patricia Wrede's blog on writing, and she's good. It's why I wanted to read it and requested the ARC! (Available on NetGalley, if you want to request it.)

    1. I've read a lot of her earlier, pre-paranormal books, and I enjoyed them, though I really do like the more recent paranormal books. So I'm definitely looking forward to River Road. I might have to wait for a while, though; I'm not exactly at the top of the hold list for that one.

    1. I love East of the Sun, West of the Moon; it's one of my favorite fairy tales, so a retelling was enough to pull me in. The weather got worse this afternoon, but luckily we didn't have to go out again. It should clear up tomorrow.

    1. I've actually got one of those on my e-reader, too, so I'll be having a little Diener minifest! As I told Bea, I love the fairy tale this is based on, so I couldn't resist.

I love to hear what you have to say -- really! Unfortunately, I've been getting a lot of spam in addition to your wonderful comments, so I've had to turn on comment moderation. That means your comment may not post right away. I promise I'll post it -- and answer it -- as soon as I can!
