"Oh, the weather outside is frightful..." Well, actually, we're getting off pretty lightly here, with sleet and rain and the occasional desultory snow flurry. Luckily, it's not really sticking to or icing the roads, so we had no trouble getting to church or stopping at the store on the way home -- though we completely forgot the outdoor Christmas lights that were the main reason for the stop! I really feel for all the people dealing with heavy snow and/or bitter cold this weekend.
Workwise, it was a very busy but successful week. I finished my project and turned it in Friday, and received a wonderful compliment from the lead author, which really made my day. Now I get to focus on making and buying Christmas presents and getting ready for our big cross-country trip next week. (I'm so glad we didn't have to leave this weekend! Hopefully the weather across the midwest will be better by next weekend.)
I hope you're all staying safe and warm. It's a good day to curl up with a mug of hot chocolate and a great book!

Thank you to Season Publishing and Diversion Books!
Challenges:
I also did the Goodreads Challenge this year, and I made my goal several weeks ago. I'll have to set it higher next year!
We've been lucky too weather- wise. We're in the upper Midwest and while its cold, we really don't have any storm activity. Back roads were icy but we're not getting any snow at the moment. Have a safe trip when you go!
ReplyDeleteMistress of the Wind looks very intriguing. And I'll definetly be getting Wrede on Writing.
I'm glad you didn't get pounded by the storm further south! Thanks for the safe travel wishes; I really appreciate them!
DeleteI sometimes read Patricia Wrede's blog on writing, and she's good. It's why I wanted to read it and requested the ARC! (Available on NetGalley, if you want to request it.)
I'm curious about the Jayne Castle book...enjoy your haul, and your week. Here's MY WEEKLY SUNDAY/MONDAY UPDATES
ReplyDeleteI've read a lot of her earlier, pre-paranormal books, and I enjoyed them, though I really do like the more recent paranormal books. So I'm definitely looking forward to River Road. I might have to wait for a while, though; I'm not exactly at the top of the hold list for that one.
DeleteMistress of the Wind looks interesting and I need to check out your review of A History of the World in 6 Glasses. I'm glad the weather hasn't been awful for you and I hope it stays that way.
ReplyDeleteI love East of the Sun, West of the Moon; it's one of my favorite fairy tales, so a retelling was enough to pull me in. The weather got worse this afternoon, but luckily we didn't have to go out again. It should clear up tomorrow.
DeleteGreat update and what a sweet haul! Happy Reading! The Sunday Edition @ Paulette’s Papers And be sure to check out Fill Your Stockings With Books Giveaways this week!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, Dani!
DeleteI am anxious to her your thoughts on Diener's book., I love her historical suspense novels. Have a wonderful week my friend.
ReplyDeleteI've actually got one of those on my e-reader, too, so I'll be having a little Diener minifest! As I told Bea, I love the fairy tale this is based on, so I couldn't resist.
DeleteI'm glad you finished your indexing project--and it's great you received a compliment, too. That always is so nice. I hope preparations go well for your cross country trip and I hope the weather is much better for you. It's definitely a day to stay by the fire and drink hot chocolate! Happy travels!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I wish we had a fire, and I haven't gotten 'round to the hot chocolate yet, but it's on my plans for the evening. Thanks for the good wishes for our trip -- please keep us in your thoughts next weekend!
DeleteCongrats on the awesome complement. And hope you have a great week with the gifts. :) Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI too have a Sunday Post up this week, abide a bit late. ;)

Thank you, Melissa! I hope you have a terrific week, too.
DeleteYea for lots of holiday romances. I was thinking of requesting the Wrede book. I can't wait to hear how it is.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to take me a little while to get to it, but I'm looking forward to it. Her blog posts on writing are so good.
DeleteMistress of the Wind looks fantastic, I read her other self published novel Daughter of the Sky (set in Africa) and it was AMAZING! I highly recommend it if you haven't read it Lark. I hope you enjoy all your books and thanks for stopping by my Sunday Post.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kimberly! I'm sorry I've been so slow to reply; getting ready for a long road trip plus the holidays has been keeping me very busy, but I'm trying to catch up now!
