Today is a big day for author birthdays!
Richard Adams, author of Watership Down, is 92 today.
Sir James M. Barrie, best known for Peter Pan, was born on this day in 1860; he died in 1937.
Then there's William Pene du Bois (1916-1993), whose Newbery Medal- winning book The Twenty-One Balloons was one of my childhood favorites. (I still have it.)
And Eleanor Estes (1906-1988), author of The Moffats, won the Newbery Medal for Ginger Pye and penned three Newbery Honor books (The Middle Moffat, Rufus M., and The Hundred Dresses).

I love to hear what you have to say -- really! Unfortunately, I've been getting a lot of spam in addition to your wonderful comments, so I've had to turn on comment moderation. That means your comment may not post right away. I promise I'll post it -- and answer it -- as soon as I can!
