News and Notes: 1/05/2013

The Bookwyrm's Hoard is now on Pinterest!  I'll be pinning some of my reviews there, but also pictures, covers, and quotes that relate to books, authors, and various genres, plus photos of terrific libraries and bookshelves. I recently pinned this photo of "Shields of Middle-earth" to my Fantasy board.  There are also a few boards reflecting my other interests, including knitting.  I hope you'll stop by and take a look!

I've just found out about something called World Book Night.  It's an awesome concept.  Each April 23, twenty-five thousand volunteers across the country give 20 copies of one title to people in their community who don't regularly read or don't have easy access to books.  There are 32 titles to choose from this year, each specially printed for this event.  Publishers donate the cost of printing the books, and authors waive their royalties for the WBN copies.  I'd love to do this! I'm trying to figure out where and to whom I could give books; I'll let you know what I come up with.    If World Book Night sounds like something you'd like to participate in, go to the World Book Night website to sign up and choose your copy. Or you can support them by making a donation.

If you've ever wanted to create a true hobbit feast, you can find ideas and recipes in the article "Food in The Hobbit" on recipewise.co.uk.  The only problem for American cooks is that many of the quantities are metric, so be prepared to either convert or search for similar recipes measured in cups and ounces.

I love to hear what you have to say -- really! Unfortunately, I've been getting a lot of spam in addition to your wonderful comments, so I've had to turn on comment moderation. That means your comment may not post right away. I promise I'll post it -- and answer it -- as soon as I can!
