In the Dragon's Eye: Patrick Rothfuss's new book

In the Dragon's Eye is where I share the books I've got my acquisitive eye on: the ones I'm really excited about and hope to read and perhaps add to the hoard.  I also link to "Waiting On" Wednesday, hosted by Jill at Breaking the SpineCover links take you to Goodreads; all blurbs are also from Goodreads.

The Slow Regard of Silent Things
(Tales from Temerant)
Patrick Rothfuss
DAW Hardcover: Oct. 28, 2014

Deep below the University, there is a dark place. Few people know of it: a broken web of ancient passageways and abandoned rooms. A young woman lives there, tucked among the sprawling tunnels of the Underthing, snug in the heart of this forgotten place.

Her name is Auri, and she is full of mysteries.
The Slow Regard of Silent Things is a brief, bittersweet glimpse of Auri’s life, a small adventure all her own. At once joyous and haunting, this story offers a chance to see the world through Auri’s eyes. And it gives the reader a chance to learn things that only Auri knows….                                          * * *

In this book, Patrick Rothfuss brings us into the world of one of The Kingkiller Chronicle’s most enigmatic characters. Full of secrets and mysteries,
The Slow Regard of Silent Things is the story of a broken girl trying to live in a broken world.

Why I want to read it:  I am unbearably excited about this book! For anyone who hasn't read The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man's Fear, Patrick Rothfuss is a writing god. I mean it: he's that good. He belongs up there with Neil Gaiman and a few others who not only tell amazing stories, they make the language sing. The Slow Regard of Silent Things isn't the third book in the Kingkiller Chronicle; we're still waiting for that. Instead, it's the story of a secondary character and the long-forgotten tunnels and chambers under the University -- a girl, and a place, that are something of a mystery in The Name of the Wind. Auri is one of my favorite characters. I can't wait to read more about her!

I love to hear what you have to say -- really! Unfortunately, I've been getting a lot of spam in addition to your wonderful comments, so I've had to turn on comment moderation. That means your comment may not post right away. I promise I'll post it -- and answer it -- as soon as I can!
