News and Notes: 12/15/2012

I've had a really busy week (with non-blog stuff), so I didn't have a lot of time to read articles this week.  But here are a few that caught my eye:

Stefanie Cohen explains "Why Women Writers Still Take Men's Names" (and occasionally vice versa.)  (The New York Times)

If you're phobic about bugs, don't read this: Bedbugs are hitching a ride in the spines of hardcover library books.  Yikes. (The New York Times)

Sam Missingham of FutureBook looks at traditionally- and self-published authors' opinions on traditional publishing deals vs. self-publishing.  My take? There's a bit of grass-is-greener thinking on both sides.  Interesting article, and worth a read (despite occasional lapses of grammar.)

I love to hear what you have to say -- really! Unfortunately, I've been getting a lot of spam in addition to your wonderful comments, so I've had to turn on comment moderation. That means your comment may not post right away. I promise I'll post it -- and answer it -- as soon as I can!
